My Childhood Weirdness, part 1
For my first post to my new, Furry lj, I copied a post from my non-furry personal lj.
(I use that one for the drama/emo and extensive memes, and I hope to keep this one relatively free of that.)
This seemed appropriate...
I'm starting a little series on my weird, imaginative exploits, growing up as an introverted, only child with no friends and a truly whacked out brain. I remember my older cousin, who I occasionally played video games with, would coment that SEGA should make a game called "Alex Kidd in Mary's World." That's how twisted I was.
And if you get that reference, you're an old-school gamer too, huh? ;)
Anyway, for anyone who's interested...
This time, I'll tell you about my crazy video game ideas. I used to draw endlessly growing up. If I wasn't reading or playing outside, I was drawing on those crappy old 'math paper' sketch pads. Unfortunately, I don't have the actual drawings for the following available, but I do remember a lot of the aspects of this idea.
I liked side scrolling shooters, like the Gradius or R-Type series, so I thought *why not a side-scroller with flying snakes?* Now hold on, just hear me out...heh. There were five (I think) snakes that I'd created, and you could choose one at the beginning of each level to fight through the stage with. Each one looked a little different, and had different abilities. The ones I remember are:
Spike - he was large, the group leader, with a big spike on his head. I think he had actual wings, and he could shoot the spike out at enemies. I guess a new one grew immediately. Normal speed. His special attack probably involved some kind of energy ray shooting from the spike.
Razor - his back was lined all the way down with blades, and he basically charged into enemies with them. His special involved him rolling into a circle and spinning like a saw blade. Fast speed.
There was one who was fast and shot lightning bolts from his forked tongue. He had wings too.
I don't remember the other two, but I'm betting one was named "Blade." They were fighting in the generic alien corridors of the Gradius games, probably to save a female snake who was dating Spike. It was really like a gang out to retrieve their kiddnapped girl.
But with flying snakes.
I'm eager to know if anyone else has some amusing or strange tales of things they did when they were kids. And, I want to know if anyone wants to hear more of my 'tales of weirdness.' Granted, it's my LJ, and I'll post them anyway...hee hee. Just curious as to whether anyone will read them.
